Well another World Clubfoot Day is upon us and I can’t believe I’ve only had 2 posts since last year but I guess that means we’re in a good holding pattern. Sporty had her 1 year post-op last week and she is rocking this guided growth surgery. She’s finally measuring in at 5’1”, she hit a major growth spurt this year, and her feet are now measuring about 5 degrees shy of neutral! What!?! We gained 10 degrees since last X-rays. And with about 6 more months left of growth on those growth plates, the dr thinks we’ll get to neutral and maybe beyond! Decisions about her feet continue to be a huge test to me. I always second guess my decisions and wonder if I’ve made the wrong choice putting her through procedures so news like this lets me breath a big sigh of relief.

Oh and her most exciting news is, she is now brace free at night for the first time in nearly 13 years! When Sporty dances and let’s me video it, you know she’s happy! Lol

He’ll likely want to take the screws out as he’s worried that the navicular bone will start hitting them as she gains dorsiflexion and he’s worried that it will reduce her range of motion so we’ll take the screws out but that happens when she stops growing. And Sporty has never looked faster on the field and continues to be pain free after long softball weekends.

This just screams Sporty, all her life she’s been told she won’t or she can’t (even when she was in utero), and she has, to it all. She fights through pain, heartache, disappointment, all while staying unapologetically herself.
